The Miracle Ridge
An SDMB group ride this morning.
It was another great ride on the new bike which means it wouldn’t be complete without jabbing knee pain. In the group were the two
singlespeed heroes. They launched themselves up Reddington (out of necessity). I quickly found that both pedaling hard and standing made my knee feel better, or, not as bad. So I did just that.
Riding a SS makes a rider strong, but apparently not strong enough. I had no intention of racing anyone–but they started it!
Of course, high powered weapons were being discharged in BuCKSHoT canyon (@8:30am), so there were other reasons to ride fast.
It was just an incredible morning to get out. Nothing says is better than that–comfy temperature and cloud cover all morning. I didn’t find waiting to be too disagreeable. Mark F. was bringing up the rear; he’s a guy worth waiting for. I was glad to see him out on the Miracle Ridge since he has never experienced the trail before.
I had a good downhill run, probably one of my best. Pivoting, hopping and general slick maneuvering, but not slick enough; several sections threw me off, and one or two were not attempted.
There were a few jokers slamming and skidding their way down the trail: horrible riders who should not have been introduced to this kind of trail. But I may as well accept that Milagrosa will continue to rise in popularity. Maybe someone can get rid of all those darn rocks for the benefit of humanity.
We’ll see how my knee shapes up tomorrow.
Dist: 33 miles
