Workshop

March 21st, 2003

I’m out at the Desert Museum (the one I proposed closing the road too) this week for the Recreation Modeling Workshop. A number of people from around the country (and world) and from various gov. agencies are here to talk about modeling, the state of the art, and where to go from here.

I threw together a little poster about GPS, modeling and my approach (TopoFusion). I feel like I should be promoting my work, but I refer to my character where it becomes clear that it’s just not in me. So, perhaps someone will take interest, perhaps not. Either suits me, really.

I’ve never been one for these all day affairs. Actually, after about 50 minutes I start to lose interest and wander into other thoughts. But somehow I made it (some of it was very good) and was rewarded with a nice walk at Brown Mountain afterwards. I walked a while, then sat a while and watched the shadows creep across the valley. Electric sunset ensued, then I drove home.

This goes down as the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen on a bicycle. Some moron was riding in the bike lane on Grant Rd. at 7:00pm. He was riding NO HANDS and talking on a cell phone. Grant is perhaps the busiest street in Tucson and it was dark.

I had to pull the car over to make sure my eyes were not deceiving me.

For now, more modeling… and more healing of the knee…. and more war…
