Cactus Forest

The cactus forest trail was re-opened today. A large group of eager cyclists met for the opening party, enjoyed some food and then rode the trail.

Hottie and I were there; it was a nice morning. I spent a few hours working on the trail a couple weeks ago, but this was my first time riding it. It provided a nice stroll through the forest of cactus.

I personally could care less if this trail is open to bikes or not, since I don’t plan on riding it. But it is symbolic: the first singletrack in a national park open to bikes. I’d like to see more and this is a step.

At the end we took the opportunity to ride the loop road back to the park entrance. I let my legs burn a bit on the big hill and felt pretty good. It was a good sign for tomorrow’s Mt. Graham hill climb. But after I got home I once again felt like 2.5 cents.

My characteristic indecision ensued for most of the afternoon. In the end I stayed and Odin and I are going to do grosa tomorrow.
